for unity, justice and the common good

UMOJA is a Swahili word that means ‘unity’ and stresses the importance of togetherness. The foundation envisions a future where young Jamaicans, regardless of their background, thrive, have the opportunity to excel academically, have access to holistic well-being, nurture a connection to their roots and nature, and contribute positively to their communities, creating a brighter future for all.
Our Mission
Umoja Healing Arts works to improve the lives of young Jamaicans from underprivileged backgrounds and underserved communities. Through a range of activities and school support programs, we promote well-being, enhance educational outcomes, and empower youth while uplifting their schools, families, and communities.
Our Vision
let's unite for the common good
YOUTH INITIATIVES
School Support Programs begin at Pennants Basic School which is located in Pennants, Clarendon, Jamaica, and serves a disadvantaged community with limited material resources. Umoja will expand to other schools as the organization grows.
A RESTORATIVE NEST
A sustainable permaculture farm & healing centre to be a safe restorative space that supports and centers children.

OTHER COMMUNITY INITIATIVES
Sometimes life happens and we are called to meet it. That was the case with hurricane Beryl
“The greatest damage done by neglect, trauma or emotional loss is not the immediate pain they inflict but the long-term distortions they induce in the way a developing child will continue to interpret the world and her situation in it. All too often these ill-conditioned implicit beliefs become self-fulfilling prophecies in our lives."
